1. Dear Life, You Suck by Scott Blagden
I loved that this was going to be from a male POV, but it still didn't live up to my expectations. When I reviewed it, I had to give it a pretty negative review. I hate that.
2. Specials by Scott Westerfield
I loved Uglies and I loved Pretties. Both of them were some of my favorite "sci-fy" stories. I didn't hate Specials but I was expecting to LOVE it. And I just didn't. It was just ok.
3. Twilight Books by Stephanie Meyer
Don't get me started. I'm not saying the books weren't good. But there was a lot of things that really bothered me. A LOT. So yeah. Everyone loved, and I was like "bleh."
4. Secret Society by Tom Dolby
The book sounded like Gossip Girl combined with a super secret society. Plus it had some Egyptian in the mix. I thought that it was going to be AWESOME. Granted, I also went into it because the cover was gorgeous. My fault.
5. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
The movie was good. The book was kinda ok. It just was not at all what I was expecting it to be. That made me incredibly sad, but I have the second book in the series that I am still going to give a shot. Mostly because Nine was a super kick-butt character.
6. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
Another book I got and read because of the cover. Didn't work out. 'Nuff said.
7. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
I had been wanting to read this one forever. I had an ARC, but I decided to go ahead and go the audiobook route since it seemed I would never get the time. I had heard a bunch of people who loved it. So I was expecting to love it. But I really didn't. Not at all.
8. The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks
This was the first Nicolas Sparks book I read. I liked the movies that had been made from his movies *at that point* so I thought why not read the book. And I hated it. And I have kept trying to get into his books, but still I have not gotten past the first 100 pages. Now I realize that other people like it. My mom, for instance, loved Safe Haven.
9. Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Not that I loved Beautiful Disaster, but I had hopes that seeing the story through Travis's POV would help me love the story. Maybe I would understand more. Nope. Not so much. In fact, I think I hated the story more afterwards.
10. Warm Bodies by Issac Marion
I made it 62 pages. I have a rule that I will make it 50 pages in. I did that, but it was definitely a DNF for me. I just couldn't get past how incredibly strange the whole thing was. Maybe it was because I had so many books coming up in the TBR pile that I just wanted to move on.
So anywho, that's my top ten. Do you have a list today? Leave me a link, and I'll come check it out!
I didn't like Anna Dressed or The Luxe nearly as much as I wanted to, either. And I have I am #4 on my list, too. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
I liked the Luxe - the blend of historical and scandal
ReplyDeleteI have to agree about Specials.. I really didn't like it at all... I am a big dystopian fan but for some reason I just couldn't get into it.

Totally agree with you on SECRET SOCIETY. I couldn't stand that book. ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, though, I loved.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
