Summary: Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett has the unique ability to travel through time and space, which brings him into Anna’s life, and with him a new world of adventure and possibility. My Favorite Lines:
As their relationship deepens, the two face the reality that time may knock Bennett back to where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate, what consequences they can bear in order to stay together, and whether their love can stand the test of time.
Fresh, exciting, and deeply romantic, Time Between Us is a stunning, spellbinding debut from an extraordinary new voice in YA fiction.
“I don’t stay anywhere. I visit. I observe. I leave. I don’t ever stay.
I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with this information. Tell him to leave? Tell him to stay? But I don’t have time to consider any other alternatives, because he scoots in closer and brings his hands to my face, and I fall back into the bookcase as he kisses me with this intensity—like he wants to be here, and if he kisses me just long enough, deeply enough, none of what he just said will actually be true.”
Why I Loved It: I was so incredibly excited to get an egalley of this book. I read it a while back, but it was one of those that had to be reviewed way later due to time pressures. When I saw this book on NetGalley, I got so excited I hopped a little. I remember using this book as one of my WoW picks. The author seems so down to earth and just, well, great! After reading this book, I hope she continues to write especially if it means I get some more healthy doses of Bennett. *By the way, can I say how much I love the name Bennett for a guy?*
Anna is a runner (which means I have a lot of respect for her since the idea of running exhausts me) and one morning she sees a strange boy in the bleachers on the local university campus. He looks at her like he knows her, but she's never seen him before. Then the same boy shows up at school. Slowly, Anna falls more head over heels for this boy named Bennett. The problem is Bennett can run a little hot'n'cold. It takes a lot of time and pressure to get Bennett to trust her with his secret. And even then, there is more buried under the surface. Much more.
I love time travel. The best part of this particular time travel book was that the author didn't make it all confusing and make me have to keep up with a timeline. It wasn't quite like that. I lost myself in this book, in Anna's world, and we shared an adoration for the swoony Bennett. I could tell the author had put a lot of time into the characters, and they were so well developed. I had to stop and remind myself that this was a debut author. It didn't feel like that.
Tamara Ireland Stone is a great author. I would read anything she writes in the future without a second thought. She won my heart and readership. *Readership is SO a thing* I'm thrilled that I had the opportunity to share in this reading experience.
Who Should Read It: Lovers of time travel *because really, who isn't??* and contemporary lovers. I feel like I have been doing all contemporary lately. *Yikes* I would recommend this book to pretty much anyone and all my friends who love the swoony boy.
Well I guess I need to check this one out! I love time travel and contemporary. Oh and I also totally love the name Bennett for a guy as well. Great review!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great pick. I've been trying to pay attention to the rumors floating around, and it sounds like there will be a book two. So that's exciting for me!
