Happy Birthday Audrey

So today... it's the "birthday" of Audrey Hepburn.

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

I believe she made film better, fashion better, and she changed the lives of many with her work with United Nations.  I would like to honor her today!

Inspired Fridays is a weekly meme hosted by Inkk Reviews.  I thought it would be fun to pull some of my Pinterest bookish ideas onto here AND support a blog I love.

Ok so tomorrow would have been Audrey Hepburn's birthday.  Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a bit of a fan... my room definitely says I am.  So I'm celebrating her birthday, and I chose a crafty thing that kind of goes along with it.  I have an old calendar so I totally could do this... I just need more room to put it up...

Amazingly enough, those pictures are from an old calendar.  It's basically mod podge on a piece of canvas.  Seriously, the canvas is the most expensive part!  It's seems pretty awesome.  If you want some step-by-step instructions and the deets, just go here.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Settings I Would Like to See More Of

1.  SPACE!!  There are all these more science fiction types books in the world of YA, but space?  Not so much.  Maybe it's the lover of Star Wars and Star Trek, but is it too much to ask for some zero-gravity fun?  Nope.  Not at all.  

2.  Ballet studios.  Ok this is because of my ballet kick.  I just finished Dance of Shadows and Bunheads a few books before that.  I am hooked.  It's like this crazy world that I knew was there but never paid attention to.  I'm all ears and eyes now.  GIVE ME MORE!!

3. Paris.  In the words of Audrey Hepburn, "Paris is always a good idea."  Always.  French boys and french food and happiness.  Even if the book is fluff, Paris settings always get me.  

4.  Australia.  This also stems from the fact that I always want to find more Australian authors.  What I have read has been more than fluff on many levels.  I am going to be on the search for Australians to feed my reading fix.  

5.  Ok so this isn't a setting per say, but you know what Marissa Meyer did with Cinder and Scarlet?  Yeah I want more fairy tales like that.  I know there are modern fairy tales galore.  But I want to find the futuristic ones that are bizarre and crazy and make me fall in love with the world of fairy tales all over again. 

6.  Small towns are always a plus for me.  I grew up in one, and I love the feeling of home I get when I read a book that sounds like my town.  Of course, I have yet to have the Star's Hollow kind of small town feeling, but I am sure it's out there.  

7.  Islands.  I love the cut off from society, islandy feel.  Especially if people really were cut off from society and something sinister was happening.  Yea.  That would be cool.

8.  Boarding Schools.  I have found that the idea may make for some very predictable and cliche books, but it doesn't have to.  The idea of boarding school was always very romantic for me.  I am still waiting for that book that the author does exactly right that reaffirms my love for the school of boarders.  

9.  The Land of Fey.  Oh such a beautiful place that is also a route where books can go to die.  Julie Kagawa made this place unique and different.  I want more Julie Kagawas in the world to recreate this place with their own unique twist.  

10.    Rome.  I want a lot more Rome.  It's one of those places that appeals to the romantic in me.  And ancient Rome always fascinated me as a child.  So yes.  I need Rome.
