Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Were Totally Decieving

My Top Ten List were books that were deceiving. I tried to focus more on the positive and trying not give it away. The list is pretty varied genre wise too. (Yay me!!)
2. The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour: Ok so if you read my review of the book, you know I thought it was going to be this girly book about a band. The ARC gave me that impression. Then I started reading, and it was from a boy's point of view. I had to double take and go WHOA? What? The book was amazing though.
3. Run for Your Life by Marilyn Levy: Ok the cover for this book stinks. I mean skunk laying on the side of the road for three days STINKS. It's an older book, but one I will always remember with very fond memories. The story is about truth and getting beyond the walls everyone has placed around you. I actually handed it to my sister last week and begged her to ignore the cover.
4. The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark: When I request the book, I totally thought the book was YA looking at the cover. It wasn't. It was still a great read, but definitely not YA.
5. Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld: I'm not a huge fan of the covers. I mean the people staring at me from the spine on my bookshelf actually kind of creeps me out. The books were great, but I only read them because a reader I trust told me I would enjoy them.
6. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen: I'm still not sure what I was expecting with this book, but the cover totally didn't help me get a better idea. Great book. But I went into the book expecting something totally different.
7. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness: I hated the cover. I mean really. It's awful. The book itself is one of my favorites now, but I never would have read it based on the cover.
8. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis: Sadly for Mr. Lewis, most of the covers of his books are very un-enticing. The book was such a powerful influence in my life, but the summary nor the cover drew me in.
9. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan: The cover did not at all scream zombies for me. Ok so once again, I bought a book totally based on the cover. It just looked cool. And then I started reading, and I was like ZOMBIES? Awesome.
10. Chronology of Water: A Memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch: This is a book that a teacher told me to read. The cover was totally not interesting. The summary kind of gave me an idea, but there was no warning for the incredible intensity awaiting me among those pages. It was one of the most honest and real books I've ever read.
